The tapestries show activities that villagers from various Andean towns go through every day, from going to the market, selling their products, getting together outside the town’s church, to taking care of their animals and harvesting in the fields. They also show the beauty and colors of the amazing landscape that the region has to offer.

Weaving is something that is passed from generation to generation in the towns located in the Andean region, and both men and women participate in the process of making each tapestry. Artisans use traditional wood framed looms to weave their designs. The wool is placed in reels and slowly released in a horizontal movement along the wooden loom. Colored weft threads are woven into fixed warp threads to achieve the beautiful designs. The closer the threads, the more details can be accomplished on each tapestry. These amazing wall hangings are the product of patience, hard work, attention to detail and amazing talent that has made this a family tradition.

Depending on the size and the amount of detail, each tapestry can take approximately 8 to 10 hours until it is completely done.

The measurements given are only approximations; please keep in mind that these tapestries are individually handcrafted and minor imperfections should be expected.

Our tapestries are decorative items
intended as wall hangings. Although
